4 IN HAND · SETUP GUIDE

Setting up a four-in-hand class in Equipe

4 in hand prints the starting order and the official result for indoor four-in-hand driving (FEI Driving World Cup, one competition with drive-off). Everything on the list comes from Equipe. This page lists what has to be in Equipe for the list to be complete.

Short version: two classes per competition (a result class and a team class with :T), four custom fields (hno and pos on the horse, groom1 and groom2 on the person), and the ground jury on the result class.

1. Two classes per competition

Equipe has one horse per start, but a four-in-hand has four. The list therefore reads two classes and joins them on the driver.

ClassExampleWhat it holds
Result classA02One start per driver (the horse can be a placeholder such as “4 in hand”). Run as a jumping class with the rounds First Round and Drive-Off, faults converted to time. Gives the starting order, ranking, times, penalties, prize money and the ground jury.
Team classA02:TTick Team in the class properties and set Max starts per team to 4 (5 with a reserve horse). One team per driver; the team members are the driver with each of the horses. Gives the horses.

2. Custom fields

Add the fields under Show settings → Custom fields: in the group Horse or Person, press Add and fill in Key and Name. The key must be exactly as below; the name is free and is only what you see in Equipe. Type: String.

OnKeySuggested nameExamplePrinted as
HorsehnoHorsenumber1AThe horse code before the name. The number is the carriage: 1A → Carriage 01. Use the driver's World Cup number, the same letters as on the declaration.
HorseposPosition (LL/RL/LW/RW)LLThe position in the four-in-hand: LLleft leader, RLright leader, LWleft wheeler, RWright wheeler. Leave it empty for the reserve horse.
Persongroom1Groom 1Emma OlssonUnder the driver: Grooms Emma Olsson / Wannes Larsen.
Persongroom2Groom 2Wannes Larsen
A horse without position is printed with a red ? last in the four-in-hand, so it is easy to see what is missing. Fill in pos on the horse and open the list again.

Each horse should have its own horse record. Do not share one horse between drivers – the fields are stored on the horse, so a shared horse gets the same position and code for everyone.

5. Opening and printing the list

  1. Install the extension 4 in hand on the show: Show settings → Extensions.
  2. Go to the result class (or the team class) and choose Extensions → 4 in hand.
  3. Check the classes in the two drop-downs and choose Starting order, Result or Both. Under Fields you can turn parts of the list on and off for this printout – CNo, carriage number, positions, horse codes, grooms, nation, prize money, ground jury signatures, sponsor and logos. Filled buttons are shown; the choice applies to Print and PDF and is remembered in the browser.
  4. Read the box Check in Equipe. It lists horses without position, drivers without grooms and drivers without a team. The box is never printed.
  5. Print (A4, 100 %) or Download PDF.
  6. FEI results (Excel) gives FEI's result file for the competition, filled in from Equipe: one row per driver with the FEI IDs, the four horses, round 1 and drive-off (net time and penalties), ranking and prize money. It needs the drivers' and horses' FEI IDs in Equipe (imported with the entries) and the FEI event ID on the result class. Send it to the FEI Driving department.

For security the ticket from Equipe is not kept in the address. After a reload, open the list again from Equipe.
